Overview

The counter is very high – unsuitable for people in seated positions there is no loop system in place for communicating. There are many steps to the top where the cinema rooms are. Someone with fatigue, physical, or visual impairments may struggles – especially as the stairs are see through. Handrails both sides in situ, nosing are identifiable. There is a lift but its small. The Corridor is very narrow, not a lot of turning space if crowded be hard for someone in a wheelchair to be able to manoeuvre. Lit well but open windows down the corridor might affect people with visual impairment. There are very heavy fire doors that you have to go to enter the cinema room. There are more steps in the cinema room; if you wish to sit at the back or middle, thereby someone who struggles with stairs would have to sit at the front. There is space for wheelchair user but only two spaces at the front end of the row.

Transport & Parking

There is no car park in situ. When approaching the cinema the pavement is very uneven; with lots of cobbles, there are two bollards in place. This might be a risk factor to people with visual or physical impairments.

Access

The front entrance has big automatic doors which allow for easy access. The lobby is clear of obstructions but is quite small. The Cinema is Lit well, the floor is even and slip-resistant. But the main reception is very noisy due to café in situ. This might cause problems with people with visual and audio impairments.

Toilets

There are two disabled toilets in situ outside the main toilets; plus disabled toilets inside the main toilets. All with good lighting, good space for manoeuvring, and equipment in place that's appropriate, i.e.. wash basin is lower.

Staff

Very helpful staff; who can help allocate and guide people if they need assistance.

Each service area - the Riverside Cafe Bar, the Basement live events venue & the Box Office, all have hearing loops - the till point that is best served has a sign on it. Also, each counter has a lower accessible space available.
