Chester Market has now begun an exciting new chapter in its history with a move to a new purpose-built market hall at the heart of the Northgate development. The driving force behind the new market has been to create a ‘modern traditional market’ that takes the best of the new breed of thriving city produce markets such as Borough Market in London, or Barcelona market; combined with pioneering communal food hall markets such as Altrincham and Stockholm, to create a unique blend of produce, goods, food and beverage traders in a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone to enjoy – where you really can shop local and eat global.

Accessibility

The new market is accessible from Exchange Sq. and Princess St. via automatic doors. Lift access is available from St. Martins Way and the New Market Parking.

Awards have included for planning for a successful economy, customer service, construction and recently the National Association of British Market Authorities presented its highest accolade to Chester in its annual market industry achievement awards.

Toilets

Within the market there is an accessible toilet and changing places toilet – both use a radar key. A key is available from market floor staff or from the bar if you do not have one. In addition, we have a baby changing and feeding room plus a gender-neutral toilet.
