Venue Description

Discover the story of Border knitwear and tweed in a beautifully-restored 16th century towerhouse. Garments, artifacts and photographs bring to life over 200 years of tradition and innovation in the local woollen industries. Changing exhibitions showcase contemporary fashion, design, art and craft. Our knitwear and tweeds have been adopted by the world – come and explore the unfinished story! The original barrel-vaulted room looks at the building’s often-turbulent history from its construction at the time of the Border Reivers. The Tom Scott Room shows paintings by the noted Scottish Borders watercolourist (1854-1927). Our shop stocks a colourful range of textiles, crafts, gifts and books – perfect for finding a unique, quality present.
