Venue Description
Awen Cultural Trust’s purpose is to ‘make people’s lives better’ and through our libraries we are committed to improving the literacy of people of all ages; supporting reading for pleasure through initiatives such as the Summer Reading Challenge; enhancing wellbeing and tackling digital exclusion through events and activities; and providing unbiased access to sources of trusted information. We were the first library service in Wales to remove fines for overdue books. We offer facilities such as: free parking, wheelchair access, free Wi-Fi, photocopying and printing services, CD'S and DVD's, Audiobooks, free internet access, software for visually impaired, Large Print books available, study spaces and we have friendly staff who are always on hand to help with anything you need.
Accessibility
There is a lowered kerb outside Betws Life Centre, which enables wheelchair users to access the building easily. There are wide automatic doors. Access to the library is level; access to the café and hall is provided via a built-in ramp. There is a standard lift for accessing the training room upstairs.
Accessible Performances
We host Quiet Lego Club with the NAS for autistic children and their families.
Toilets
The accessible toilets have step-free access, with a wide door and easy-turn locks. The tap is a mixer sequential tap - you lift and turn it to adjust pressure and temperature. There are grab rails fitted.
Staff
Venue staff have attended general disability awareness training, and completed relevant Awen Learn modules.

There is a grassy area outside/ to the rear of the building that assistance dogs could use as a toileting area. Water could be provided for assistance dogs visiting the library.
