Discover the characters, nooks and crannies of old Berwick as you explore a fascinating recreation of the old town. Learn about its Middle Ages and then enjoy the beautiful masterpieces from the magnificent Berwick Burrell Collection. Enjoy our temporary exhibitions, modern art and interactive family fun too.

Accessibility

The building is not fully accessible. There is one main access point to the building - via the main entrance to Berwick Barracks. There is a possibility of access by arrangement with staff via the rear of the building into the Clock Block. Please phone or email in advanced for this to be arranged. The main entrance is wide, giving easy access to wheelchair users and visitors using large pushchairs. There is a ramp measuring approximately 74cm wide for ease of access to the stepped areas leading to this . Wheelchair access is available to the Window on Berwick exhibition on the ground floor. The path around the room is 78cm wide at its narrowest point. Access to the temporary galleries and shop is available via two steps, but a ramp can be provided. The ramp to the gift shop and temporary galleries measures approximately 72cm wide. Access to first floor galleries is not possible for wheelchair users. Unfortunately, as our building is historic, we have no lift access to the upper floor. However, staff can provide a mini tour using videos and photos, plus any information you need. Toilets

There are three (outside) toilets on site, which are managed by English Heritage. One is fully accessible to visitors using wheelchairs. There is no separate baby changing facility.
