Due to essential maintenance, Argyll's Lodging is closed to visitors until further notice. Enjoy a glimpse of the home life of a wealthy Scottish nobleman of the 1600s. The most complete townhouse of its kind, its interior has been reconstructed to look as it may have done when Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll, lived here.Accessibility
Approach by a side gate to access the ground floor, via the gardens. Visitor centre Access to Argyll’s Lodging is by guided tour only. Tours leave from Stirling Castle at set times (call 01786 450 000 for details). Monument The ground floor, which includes the hall and kitchens is mainly level. The upper floor, which includes the dining room and chambers, is reached via a large historic straight stair. There are 18 wooden steps with a handrail on one side.
