Venue Description
See great art for free! Aberdeen Art Gallery is home to one of the finest collections in the country. The collection spans 700 years and includes a staggering range of works by local, national and international artists, designers and makers. For over 130 years we have been acquiring the best and most interesting contemporary artworks. We are proud to care for these treasures on behalf of the people of Aberdeen and to share their stories with all our visitors. Highlights of the displays include works by Joan Eardley, the Scottish Colourists, Francis Bacon, Tracey Emin, Claude Monet and Barbara Hepworth.

The entrance is on Schoolhill. The doors usually open automatically, but if in doubt there is a push button at low level on the granite wall to the right of the doors. The doors can also be pulled opened manually. Power-assisted wheelchairs, mobility scooters and buggies are welcome. Guide dogs, hearing dogs and recognised assistance dogs are welcome. The ground floor café can provide water for assistance dogs. We have two wheelchairs available to borrow free of charge. Accessible Performances
We are offering a more relaxed visiting experience on Mondays for visitors who may prefer it. Relaxed Mondays are primarily for – but not limited to – families with neurodivergent children, neurodivergent young people and adults, adults living with dementia, adults and children with mental health problems, and any visitors with sensory needs, or who may prefer a more relaxed experience, along with their families, friends and carers. The Art Gallery is open to all visitors on Mondays. We do not accept bookings for large group visits on that day in order to try to keep the environment as relaxed as possible. Friendly staff who have completed sensory first aid training will be on hand to give a warm welcome, answer any questions and help everyone to make the most of their visit. Some sensory backpacks are available to borrow to help enhance a visit – these include dark glasses, ear defenders and fidget toys. For visitors who may need it, there will be a sensory den set up in a quiet space in the Seminar Room on Level 2. Thanks to local charity We Too! for working with us to develop these resources.

There is a Changing Places Toilet on Level 2.
