Welcome to the November review roundup. This month, we have welcomed lots of new venues and reviewers, while Some reviewers have come back to reviewing on Euan’s Guide after some time away. However, you have found Euan’s Guide we would like to say thank you for joining us! We also want to extend a  thank you to all our volunteer reviewers and venues. With your help, we can make it easier, safer and more rewarding for disabled people and their families to find accessible places to go.

Places to stay

This month, we have had a great variety of places to stay. APlatt, a new reviewer, wrote an interesting review of the Imperial Hotel in Llandudno. The accessible room was “light and well equipped. The shower was very well adapted, and a suitable shower stool was delivered when requested.” The reviewer also notes that the staff were “very friendly and welcoming.”

Finnberrys stayed at the SandHaven Holiday park in her caravan for the first time, and it’s also the venue’s first review on Euan’s Guide. “The pitches are definitely the main asset on this site…These pitches have a gravel area, then a tarmac area and then grass…That meant I never had to wheel over gravel, which was fantastic! Having grass there too gave me somewhere to toilet my assistance dog on rising and before bed.”

LornaSmith is a new reviewer and sent us a review of Cosaig Self Catering Cottage near the Scottish borders. Lorna rates the cottage five stars. “Cottage is very well laid out and meets all our needs. My husband is registered blind and has mobility issues as well as a lot of health issues. The cottage has absolutely everything you could need for a stay in the beautiful countryside.”

Things to do

Lola sent us a five-star review of the SPACE Centre in Preston, which she enjoys visiting with her carer. There are several sensory rooms on different levels for disabled children and adults. “Been here many times before. It is very accessible with hoists in all the sensory rooms and bathrooms. I enjoy going in space 3, lift access to upper floors.”

After not having been for some time, Peter had a great time visiting Blair Drummond Safari Park. He says, “Hadn’t been for ages, so was great to see loads of animals, brilliant access and easily accessible viewing. To see some of the animals, like the tigers, viewing platforms are provided with ramps up and down both sides. Pathways are good, and the site is mostly flat.” This sounds like a fun, adventurous, and accessible day out for the whole family.

Agggg, who is a new reviewer, says that her daughter had a very positive experience visiting Zipworld at Penrhyn Quarry: “Staff were wonderful and reassuring, taking as much time as she needed before setting off.”

Tina Hodgkinson visited the Fashion and Textile Museum. The museum has different exhibitions at different times, and  Tina visited the Fabric of Democracy exhibition. She says, “It's an exhibition that really makes you think differently about how fashion is portrayed.” Tina gives a detailed review of the exhibition and how informative it was.

Places To Eat

Dr Stu Powchuser visited The Oak Tree Pub and Grill in Chester. He says he found “all aspects of it to be fully accessible as well as very friendly and accommodating staff.” This sounds like a great venue to go for a family lunch at the weekend.

Finnberrys visited the Colemans Seafood Temple and gave it a 4-star rating while visiting South Shields. She mentions in her review, “I was expecting fairly average fish and chips, but it was so much better than that! The food was amazing!” She also mentions that the staff were very accommodating and helpful. “They offered water for my dog and they moved unnecessary stuff out of the way so that I had more space.”

Reviewer of the month: November

Reviewer of the month in November goes to... Lorna Smith, who is a new reviewer for us! She and her husband visited Cosaig's self-catering while on holiday at the borders. They praised the cottage's accessibility and felt that it met all their needs. Thank you for submitting your first review; we  hope to hear from you again .
