June Review Round up

Welcome to the June Review Roundup. This month we have had lots of new interesting reviews. Obviously,  people have been out and about enjoying the summer weather! We have had lots of new reviewers this month, joining Euan’s Guide for the very first time. If you are one of them then we would like to say a huge thank you and welcome aboard!

Places to visit

Let’s start with places to visit this summer.Jamie M shared his first review of The Gym Group in Ayr,  commenting on the access in the gym. “It's a good entrance, I walk right through. A lift and signs.”  Jamie also commented on how helpful the staff were and was impressed at how clean the gym and toilets were. 

Another great review was submitted for the Garage in Kilmarnock. James M enjoyed bowling and go-karting -  sounds like a great day out!

If you’re a lover of animals and wildlife then Noah's Ark Farm Zoo is worth a visit. Daz1964 left a great first review, mentioning  that the zoo farm park is quite large so may be difficult to get around for those with mobility impairments. However, Noah's Ark offers the use of free standard wheelchairs on a first come first served basis and also offers the use of mobility scooters  at £10.00 per day (book in advance).

Another excellent wildlife themed review came from Disabled Traveller, who visited Birmingham wildlife conservation park for the first time. Disabled Traveller commented on some aspects of the zoo seeming quite rundown, but overall had a positive experience giving an overall five-star rating. They particularly commented on the accessibility of the zoo. “Throughout the park, we found it easy to get around, although there are slopes in some parts. We did not encounter any steps, paths were level enough without potholes, and we could see every little creature on show.”

Places to stay

If you're looking for places to stay this summer then a Place for Everybody comes highly recommended by Sue471. The cottage is in an ideal location to explore the town of Dawlish. Sue gave the cottage a five-star review and commented on the accessibility of the accommodation. “Roomy bungalow, access to all rooms, one bedroom with hoist. Owners will leave shower chair and other equipment if necessary. Reclining chair in lounge.”

If you fancy accommodation with a difference, then why not try glamping? New reviewer, LisaMShard gave the CYP Hollidays accessible glamping pod in callendar, a five-star rating. “It was like a home away from home (but with better views!) as everything was so easy for me to access. Overall, we had an amazing stay at The Crags Accessible Pod and would stay here again.”

The Hogs Head inn also gets a high rating from new reviewer Kathy M who commented on the accessibility of their hotel room and the friendliness of the staff. “Plenty of room to move about in a power chair and a well laid out wet room. Spotlessly clean and the staff seemed very friendly.”

Places to eat

The Steading in Edinburgh received a five-star rating from Jane, and she commented on the variety of the menu and the accessibility of the venue, along with the helpfulness of the staff. This seems like a great place to stop off for lunch or dinner after a day out in Edinburgh, with plenty of room to get to tables in the bar for a wheelchair or scooter. “The menu is varied and suits all tastes. Some meals come in half potions. The staff were helpful as I had to ask what ingredients were used in some meals due to my allergies.”

Tina Hodgkinson give a four-star rating to Senzo in London. While Tina made some recommendations to the owner of how to improve the accessibility of the café, she gave a very positive review of her overall experience. “I loved this cafe, it has really nice food, a lovely atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. I would definitely return.”

Reviewer of the Month - June

With so many fantastic reviews this month, we had a really difficult decision to pick just one review of the month. The review of the month goes to LisaMShardlow for her review of CYP Holidays accessible glamping pod in Callendar. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to submit reviews this month. We love reading them all and sharing them with disabled people and their families and friends.
