July Review Round up

Welcome to the July review roundup. We've had lots of great reviews coming in this month, so whether you're looking for somewhere for a day out or somewhere different to go on holiday with your family, we have it covered thanks to our amazing reviewers.

Places to stay We had a five star review from GrahamD who had a wonderful holiday at Leuchie House in North Berwick Graham mentioned during his respite stay that “There were plenty of trained staff and equipment”. He also mentions the fantastic meals and he made some great friends.

Sarastacey sent a 4.5 star review of The Tower Hotel in London. She highlighted in her review that room 101 had excellent accessibility apart from the bed, being slightly too high. In her review, she mentions some of the accessibility features that stood out for her and made her visit easier. “The bathroom had a seat raiser as requested when I booked which made the seat the right height to transfer from my wheelchair. The shower had a shower seat with arms that could be lifted.” This sounds like a good place to stay if you're visiting the capital.

Places to visit Thornton Hall Farm is a great family day out and received a four star review from Birch. The review mentioned that there are a range of activities for all the family, including farm animals, a soft play area and go-carts. The review notes that the reception area is wheelchair accessible with wide entrance doors and the staff on the reception were very welcoming.

BeingSickSucks sent us a very interesting review of IFS Cloud Cable Car at the Greenwich Peninsula. She mentioned that all the cable cars were accessible for wheelchair users and assistance dogs were accepted, and fully recommends a ride on the cable car as a different way to see London. She also mentioned the staff were really patient. If you’re looking for an accessible way to see London this could be it!

Summer Music Festivals If you are a fan of live music there are lots of different festivals on during the summer months which come highly recommended on Euan’s Guide. First of all, the British Summer Time Festival in Hyde Park was reviewed by Crowley. She saw lots of different artists, including Take That. Crowley mentioned a few areas for improvement, including crowd control on entering and exiting the venue.  However, overall, she seemed to have a positive experience and said that it was “one of the best venues/festivals I’ve attended in recent years. Fantastic facilities and the bar platform service is extremely helpful.”

Staying with the theme of live music Karine1985 sent us a 4.5 star review after attending a concert in Bellahouston Park. She gave some really detailed information on the accessibility of the venue and what had been done to make the whole experience easier. She commented that it was ‘an all-round excellent experience’. Places to Eat We have some really good reviews of restaurants and family-run pubs which make for an accessible day out with family and friends. First of all Squirrelpot reviewed The Mitre restaurant in Greenwich. In his review, he spoke about this being “a very happy visit: easily wheelchair-accessible, lovely service, great food, an excellent accessible toilet. Strongly recommended.” He has also included some fantastic photos of the restaurant, conservatory and the accessible toilet, which we know from our users’ feedback is incredibly helpful ahead of visiting somewhere new.

The Ellerby Country Inn in North Yorkshire received a five-star review from Drcmgeorge, one of our new reviewers. They noted that the staff were very friendly and willing to help, and were able to accommodate specific dietary requirements, such as a pureéd diet. There was also an accessible room available for anyone wishing to stay overnight at the hotel.

Review of the month - July 

This month, the review of the month goes to Drcmgeorge and their informative review of the Ellerby Country Inn in North Yorkshire. This sounds like a fantastic venue to have a meal with family and friends or to stay overnight during a visit to the area. As a new reviewer, we really look forward to seeing more reviews from Drcmgeorge – they’re off to a great start!
