Overview

This theatre has spent big bucks on a recent refurbishment. Visiting shortly after it re-opened, I contacted the manageress to offer constructive (!) criticism for physically disabled people, in an attempt to get things improved during the first few months of the 'new' building. As I stated, I was impressed with the changes but there were a few signage alterations etc needed for wheelchair users. I got acknowledgement of my email and a request for further details. That was November and I've heard nothing since. After making further contact I feel now is the time to leave a review - changes are obviously not being made!

Transport & Parking

We visited in an accessible taxi - parking near the theatre is not good. Also, there was a problem of no fully dropped curb outside the main entrance.

Access

The access into the theatre via the main entrance is good. However, once inside the theatre I found the height of signs and the info they gave tricky from my mobility scooter.

Toilets

I only visited the accessible toilet on the dress circle (1st floor level). Once inside everything is as expected but the sign from one side of the bar, where my seat was, to the other side (where the toilet is) is non-existant.

Staff

The staff were initially very friendly but this changed, regretfully, when they realised the obvious problems and therefore were not able to assist. The staff serving 'coffee and cakes' were lovely.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I may visit again as it is my local theatre but I will be irritated when I find that changes gaven't been made. The manageress had plenty of time to respond! I feel this is Pretty sad - so much money has been spent and only small changes need to be made for the experience in a wheelchair/scooter. Shame!!
