Overview

Wheelchair accessible entrance but steps up to some of the seating areas. Good food with friendly staff who provided good service to a group of individuals with learning disabilities.

Transport & Parking

There is no parking facilities at Yates but a nearby bus stop that our group used as we travelled to the restaurant using public transport.

Access

There is a large sign outside that clearly indicates where the restaurant is. However, the entrance is down a passage way so is easily missed/walked past if you don't already know where it is located. The entrance is flat meaning that an individual who uses a wheelchair could access Yates. There is various seating areas inside but to access certain areas there are a few steps with no ramp alternative, meaning your choice of seating is restricted. Yates is not table service therefore you have to go to the bar to order your food which may cause some difficulties for wheelchair uses due to the height of the bar. Unsure of alternative menus as our group where able to read the ones provided.

Toilets

The access to the toilets is flat and there is a disabled toilet available. Am not able to confirm grab rails, manoeuvrability as none of our group members used it.

Staff

The staff at Yates spoke directly to each of our group members without looking at the carers for assistance. Each individual was understood and asked the appropriate questions you would expect e.g. ice in a drink, which demonstrated fair treatment to all. However, the staff did not check back on the enjoyment or quality of our food during or after the meal even though I overheard some other tables being asked this.

Each member of our group enjoyed their meal and the daily deals meant it was fairly cheap (£3.95 for a burger on Wednesday) and all members said they would return!
