Overview

The hotel offers an unusual visit, more attracted to golfers, and various events that are held here, in modern facilities that may or may not appeal to you. The grounds look more like a private estate, with bollards in place and man handled as you arrive, but it does have the hotel here, and it was an interesting but different visit. The grounds are set in 200 acres of countryside, and includes a PGA European 18 hole golf course. In 2019, Wychwood park and golf club underwent a £3 million pound refurbishment programme, to its Atrium, restaurant, bar, public areas, and 38 bedrooms, and decorated throughout with natural colours. Today, the hotel can offer 113 bedrooms, all modern, delightfully decorated, with walk in showers for the disabled. 25 meeting rooms are available, and this has made the hotel a popular meeting space, catering for business and pleasure activities. On arriving at Wychwood park, you will be met at the barriers, and directed to turn left and follow driveway around to the hotel grounds (photo 1) then head straight ahead towards the hotel itself (photo 2) pull up by the fountain (photo 3) and you will find disabled bays (photo 4) with electric charging points available in these bays. walk ahead to terrace area (5) and into entrance, which is all on the level (photo 6) The receptionist will happily greet you (7) and direct you to the lifts ahead (8) and you can go up to first floor, and look down over the activities going on below (9) Coming out of the lift (photo 10) you are at the Bar lounge (11) where your drink will be ordered (12) and the team will prepare your drinks (13) and you can relax and enjoy your visit (14). The toilets are next to the lift (photo 15) and they do have a disabled toilet, which is shared doorway with ladies toilet, but the disabled is locked and you need to go to bar to be let in, blow that, we just used basic ladies and gents, both being just basic, but very clean and well looked after (16) At the bar, pop out unto the balcony to look over at the golf course (17) which today had an event going on (18) and you could if you wished sit out here on a warm sunny day and enjoy your drink (19). Down on the ground floor, a restaurant is available (photo 20) serving modest menu, but we felt it more ideal as a breakfast restaurant rather than dinner. The bar is ideal as a relaxing spot, with comfortable seating, spacious, allowing room for wheelchairs without disturbing others. In the evening Dinner May be enjoyed in the Fairways restaurant, with a pleasant but limited menu, but you can sit in comfortable surroundings as you enjoy Chefs selections. A few yards away, in a seperate building, the golf club itself has a nice little restaurant for you, The Claret Jug, which offers hearty food, starting with breakfast from 7.00am till 11. Followed by lunch from noon, steak, mash, fish and chips and burgers, all served in an unstuffy atmosphere, with exposed stone walls, polished stone floors, and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the golf course. To help you get that weight down now, you can go to the fitness centre, for a modest charge, with their up to date machines that will test you all the way.

Transport & Parking

Parking for disabled is handy, with a number of bays, and about four electric charging points for you. (photo)

Access

Nice and easy to get into hotel entrance which is just a few yards from the car park, and all of the hotel is on the level, with a lift available to take you up to first floor for the bar and toilets.

Toilets

2.5

The toilet is shared with ladies toilet, but it is locked and you need to go to bar to be able to get in. We just left wheelchair next to toilets and walked in to public ladies and gents toilet instead, save the effort of finding someone. Clean and tidy, with normal modern facilities.

Staff

Willing enough.
