Overview
There is a good (free) car park with some designated accessible places. This place is really wheelchair friendly - the paths were all accessible & I had no trouble getting round the venue. Had a nice sandwich & a pot of tea in the cafe. The accessible toilet at the cafe had plenty of room, grab rails etc.
Transport & Parking
There is a free car park with several designated accessible bays.
Access
We were given a map & a day planner when we arrived which had logos for accessible toilets (I counted 5), baby changing, restaurant, rain shelter etc & couple of places that had restricted wheelchair access. Good signage around the venue. Plenty of places to wash your hands (notices to say that animals carry disease) The large cafe was accessible with seats inside & outside. Friendly, helpful staff.
Toilets
I used the accessible toilet by the cafe. It had enough space to manoeuvre & grab rails on the wall. It was clean & tidy.
Staff
On arrival I went to pay. The staff were very helpful & the carer for a disabled visitor is free. I was given the map & day planner & inside the visitor centre I bombarded the staff with lots of questions about birds! She was really patient, helpful & knowledgeable. On my tour I found more helpful & knowledgeable staff & I learnt a lot.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There was lots for children to see & do & they were fascinated, as was everybody else. People were all friendly & chatty. I would have liked to go guided boat tour (I believe they have 2 designated wheelchair spaces) but unfortunately they were all booked up for the day. That's a good reason for me to go again!
