This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair
Overview
A wetlands walk with textured boardwalk around marshes and ponds where a variety of wildlife can be seen. All areas are totally wheelchair accessible
Transport & Parking
large car park with plenty of dedicated disabled parking spaces. Flat and consisting of packed earth, perfectly accessible.
Access
The entrance is via a flat, textured boardwalk over a marsh area leading from the car park. There are wide automatic doors to the cash desk and a carers concession ticket is available. A map is available and the entire area is well signposted with information boards at each area. The entire area is flat with no steps. There are several bird hides, all with ramped entrances and lowered windows for full visibility. All fenced areas are low enough to easily see over from wheelchair height There are many benches to sit and rest. A boat trip with guide can be taken through the marshes. The boat has a drop front and can easily accommodate a wheelchair.
Toilets
A large disabled toilet is situated in the cafe. Plenty of room to accommodate a carer and wheelchair. Well placed handrails, both fixed and pull down. Clean, tidy and well looked after
Staff
The desk staff are helpful and offered a carers concession ticket There are various members of staff around the wetlands area, easily identifiable by their named fleeces/tops who are happy to answer any questions.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There is a large and airy cafe with plenty of room to move around and attractive views from the windows. Staff are helpful and quite happy to bring items to the table. I would fully recommend a visit here and would definitely return. It is fully accessible to wheelchairs (manual and powered) and mobility scooters.
