Overview
The name World Museum is ideal for this venue as you get to see items from all over the world and even from outer space as well. The Museum is free to visit however like all these type of places they welcome any donation that you would like to give and boxes are provided for this. While the museum is free there are chargers for the Planetarium on the 5th floor of the venue which is open at different times during the day. There is also a charge to visit any of the special exhibitions on the 2nd floor these change through out the year tickets can be bought on the ground floor on the way in or via the web It is advisable to book in advance for any special exhibition as some of these sell out In advance such as the Terracotta Warriors that come to an end before the end of this month Oct 2018. There is good signage about the museum to direct you to where to go etc
Transport & Parking
We took a Taxi from the city centre to the museum which cost about £4.00 however there are a number of local buses that pass by the doors of the Museum and the local tour buses that take you on the city tour also stop in the area as well. Did not notice any Blue badge parking in the area the nearest large car park is some distance away
Access
The museum is an old building as are most of these type of venues as a result there is a mixture of paving stones, Tarmac and cobles as you approach the doors. You will notice a large number of steps however the entrance is to the side of the steps and gives level access. Once inside the museum there is lots of space and there are good size lifts that run between each of the 5 floors I also found that there was a good enough amount of space as I moved around each of the floors to see the exhibits on display all of these had cards displaying information about the item on show. The lighting levels change depending on what is on show as some items need to have minimal light on them while others are shown in darker areas such as the Space items. However all very well done
Toilets
There is a wheelchair accessible toilet on every floor and a wonderful changing places facility on the 1st floor all of the toilets have good signage and the 2 that we looked at were clean and useable It was strange that the café is on the ground floor as male and female toilets but no accessible toilet ? This might be the place most people would look for one after having a tea or coffee
Staff
All of the staff we spoke to were fantastic and very helpful as well
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There is also a cloak room and buggy park on the ground floor the information desk to book tickets to the 2 areas that there is a charge a shop There is also free Wi-Fi available in the café
