Overview

We were visiting family in the area and were told that this pub did a very good Sunday roast. They were not wrong. I contacted the pub via email to find out about Wheelchair access and to explain about my allergies caused by the medication I take for my illness. The person who replied was extremely helpful. Saying access would be via the side door as this was just about level. This person Spoke with the chef and they were more than happy to accommodate my allergy requirements. The chef made sure. That my roast meats of which there were three turkey, gammon and beef were kept separate. He informed me that they would cut me enough of each off just before the rubs were added for the last 10 minutes of cooking time. My meat was kept in a special heated container in the hot server with plenty of gravy to stop it drying out. My gravy had been made separately as well. All the vegetables were in dishes on the carvery . I must say the carrots were absolute lovely honey and orange glaze . No seasoning was added to any of the vegetables other than the honey and orange on the carrots . We also had dessert I had cherry and chocolate mousse which was very good indeed . While others in our party had ice cream . I was extremely impressed with how helpful the staff were and how much they had gone out of their way to accommodate my needs. We will certainly be visiting again when in the area.

Transport & Parking

Although they do not have disabled parking spaces we were able to park near the side entrance. The only issues was it’s a gravel car park not easy to get over in a wheelchair

Access

Access was through the side door that has a slight slope and over a shallow step, down a corridor. It was easy to get around the pub to our table which we had pre booked . The tables were well spaced out and a chair had already been removed from ours for my wheelchair.

Toilets

I assume they had accessible toilets but did not use them so unable to make a comment

Staff

Staff were fantastic . Going in my opinion above and beyond to meet my dietary requirements . They could do enough to help us.

We did see one hand sanitizer station as you entered by the side door and I was told there was another one by the Carvery.
