A very well laid out and interesting museum

Overview
For many years I have wanted to visit the Woodhorn Museum and with it’s close proximity to our base for three nights, It would be silly not to visit. I am so glad I did and, if in the area, would certainly go back. There was good ‘keep your distance’ signage throughout the museum with staff members a plenty to offer advice and answer questions The majority of the people we saw were wearing face coverings, as were all staff
Transport & Parking
The website advised not to use the postcode but follow the brown signs. This we did and got there with no bother. There was a large car park adjacent to the entrance to the museum site which had a number of disabled bays play an ev charging point.
Access
My powerchair handled the ground with no problem. The main building was modern and very well laid out, with all displays being easy to view from a wheelchair Thought had been put into the outside buildings also with good ramps and signage making things easy for the visitor
Toilets
There were accessible toilets inside the main building but I did not use them and therefore the score I have allocated may be incorrect. From what I read on the website there is also a changing places unit which is superb.
Staff
I was pleasantly surprised that my wife was taken as being my carer and did not pay. Other than here and in the café, we had no interaction with staff members, although there were a number going about and we had a portable ramp put out as we approached the Farriers shed.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Hand Sanitizer 'pumps' were available at various point throughout the museum and signage to advise the visitor throughout. Beside the museum was a lovely walkway round a ‘lake’. Not sure how big it was but we spotted swans on it as well Anglers fishing. Although we did not try to go right round, the bit we did go on was fine for my wheelchair. I also note that the ticket covers a year. A really good reason for a return visit if in the area.
