Overview
Accommodated in very pleasant external accessible room at rear of grounds. A small furnished patio is provided and would be a lovely place to sit out in Summer. Decent-sized accessible bathroom with shower provided but had a couple of problems. (Wash basin right in front of toilet and soap/shampoo dispensers set too high.) Plenty of space in the main room to manoeuvre in a wheelchair, but located quite a long way from the main hotel for breakfast, reception, dining etc. It was up a very steep slope, challenging to my power chair, and far enough to get drenched in poor weather, I imagine. Assistance required with external and internal doors, as is so often the case. For the somewhat more mobile there are hi-viz handrails provided. Dogs are allowed - good! But not so not good for those with allergies. No reminder of this was given when booking an accessible room. In the main hotel there is an accessible toilet available, but it's not ideal for wheelchair users. Breakfast room, bar, lounge, dining area are fully accessible. Access to reception from the front is good. Staff are helpful. Parking is easy at the front. Parking at the rear is on sloping ground. Beware. (Though there is plenty of space.) I enjoyed my weekend stay. Management were open to suggestions for accessibility improvements and were keen to consider re-landscaping the rear path. The hotel is a good base for local exploration. I think the apartment-type rooms at the back of the grounds are the better choice for accessibility.
