Overview
Whitmuir is a great place to go when you want to escape the busy life of the city of Edinburgh. The drive from Edinburgh was short (under 30 mins). There is disabled parking just beside the main building. At Whitmuir there is a Cafe and bistro (a good selection of cakes, beverages and a lunch menu), Farm Shop (organic food and veg also children's toys), Art gallery(paintings, prints, sculptures and jewellery etc), Plant nursery and Antiques. Most areas are wheelchair accessible with the exception of the plant nursery. The entrance has a double main door and there is a disabled toilet. We have a lovely time. cakes were yummy and it was great to get out into the countryside.
Transport & Parking
We drove. There are two disabled parking spaces just beside the main building .
Access
The easiest way to enter the main building when in a wheelchair is by the main double door, although it is not automatic .The cafe bistro, art gallery and farm shop are all in the main building and are wheelchair accessible. The disabled toilet is also in the main building. The plant nursery is not really wheelchair accessible although I suppose it could be done with some effort and assistance. I decided not to try. Although the antiques building is awkward but wheelchair accessible it is tight for space. See photos .
Toilets
The disabled toilets are in the main building on the left hand side as you enter through the main door. They are spacious and have emergency red cords. See Photo
Staff
