Overview
Two of the cottages - Wheatlands and Swallow - are suitable for people with limited mobility. Swallow is adapted for wheelchair users. Burradon Farm cottages are well placed for Newcastle and the Northumberland coast. Very comfortable and high standard. Dogs allowed.
Transport & Parking
There's parking right outside each cottage (each has a front garden, so parking is at the end of the garden (see photo). Public transport stops on the main road but that's at the end of a very long driveway.
Access
Inside Wheatlands (the one we've stayed in twice) floors are all hard and easy to walk or wheel on. There are a few rugs in sitting room and main bedroom but they're easily avoided. Main bedroom has super wet room. Doorways wide. Only criticism is slightly stiff door handles but it's not a major issue. There's a ramp at the front door of Wheatlands, which is better than a step but it's a little steep (no handrail) and as it's wooden, a little slippery when wet. There's a sun room (it's lovely) accessed from the dining area: however there's a very sizeable threshold to negotiate (the old sliding glass door frame). Sadly this makes getting in an out if this room really tricky. The only saving grace is there's lots of seating elsewhere in the house.
Toilets
There are two bathrooms in Wheatlands. The main bedroom ensuite has a wet room with two handrails in the shower. A portable frame is kept in the house for use with the loo if needed. There's a shower seat. The shower in the 2nd bathroom is a standard cubicle. There are separate baths in both bathrooms if preferred (no additional rails or aids though).
Staff
Owners and team really helpful.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There's a further garden off the rear patio but sadly inaccessible directly due to steps. There are table and chairs in front garden and on rear patio.
