Overview

The Sealife Center at Lodmoor county park Weymouth has disabled access in most of the huts and has 2 disabled toilets and a tight gift shop to negotiate around.

Transport & Parking

There is disabled parking outside of the Sealife Center it is council owned and all disabled people must pay for parking there regardless of any vehicle paying road tax or not.

Access

There is a few of the "huts" where marine life is kept where disabled access is a problem due not being able to enter the huts due to there being high door lips which poses a problem getting wheelchairs or mobility scooters over the thresholds, there is a gazebo which houses seasonal characters there like Lego underwater exhibition etc as one side has a big step to negotiate and a ramp another side with a ramp which has a drop to the floor to try to get on to. Also the changing huts at the pool/splash zone are not even though there is a ramp to them disabled friendly.

Toilets

There is 2 disabled toilets there the disabled toilet at adventure island has the emergency cord tucked into a fixture so it is not hanging freely all the way to the floor as they should be. Other than that it is fully accessible but the toilet is very low to the ground.

Staff

The staff are very helpful whenever I have asked any questions I have not had to ask them for any assistance but I'm pretty sure they would be able to help.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The children's rides at the Sealife Center have accessible entrances but the likes of the seal ride the disabled child would I think struggle to get into and out of the ride and the same as the tub boat ride and the critter creak (crocodile ride) as well.
