Overview
Mainly riverside walk, 2.62 miles and mostly flat. Surface varies - gravel, tarmac (with the occasional Edinburgh pothole!) and board walks. Two main road crossings, both having pedestrian crossings with lights. Keep a look out for dippers, kingfishers, mergansers and (at the right time of year) famous rugby players on the practice pitch at Murrayfield.
Transport & Parking
Can't comment on the parking. Excellent bus service (Lothian 26, 12, 31) from city centre to Roseburn and from Slateford back to city centre (Lothian 34,35,44).
Access
One or two bumpy sections. The Water of Leith Visitor Centre at the end of the walk is fully accessible and a good place for a cuppie and a cake.
Toilets
At the Water of Leith Visitor Centre. Down a corridor. The person on duty was very helpful indeed - opening doors for us and showing us where the accessible toilet is. The accessible toilet is on the small side, but manageable.
Staff
Alert, attentive and very helpful custodian at the Water of Leith Visitor Centre on Slateford Road.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Saughton Park's Rose Garden is right by the route and well worth stopping off at, particularly in July when the roses are in bloom.

Agreed: Surprisingly well-maintained walkways especially along the Leith portion of the walk.
