Overview

What promised to be a great few days away turned into a nightmare. When you contact a hotel and go through all the hoops to book a wheelchair accessible room with wet room thats what you expect to get when you arrive. Apparently not if you stay here!

Transport & Parking

3

Parking was good as there were accessible parking bays. Spoilt somewhat by guests vehicles intermittently blocking the only dropped kerb access to the front of the hotel. The hotel complex has a fairly long drive before reaching the main road so quite a distance to walk for buses. Taxis do come into the resort and drop off at the door.

Access

2

Access throughout the complex was fair apart from the bedrooms. Booked a wet room specifically and arrived to find it had been allocated to someone else. Offered a large family room instead - on investigation couldn't even get in the bathroom! The offered an accessible room with a bath - couldn't get near the sink or alongside the bed to transfer ... This was deemed acceptable on the hotel's part but was a night of little comfort or sleep for me! Could not recommend this hotel because of this experience. Did get transferred on the second day to a room with a wet room but too late to compensate for the experience.

Toilets

3

There are two publicly accessible toilets in the complex. One was fine and the other out of order.

Staff

2

Reception staff simply failed to understand that if I booked an accessible room with a wet room it was because I needed one not because it was some optional extra. Then to offer a family room with all the assurances it would be fine when I couldn't even get through the door was like rubbing salt into a wound. Some disability equality training is desperately needed at this establishment.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The disappointment experienced and the challenge of making do in an inappropriate room took away the sparkle of what was to be a great short break. The unwillingness of staff to provide contact details of who to complain to further compounded the experience.
