This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Powerchair
Overview
Level access for wheelchairs. Door is heavy and non-powered. There is an accessible loo. The counter is not lowered. They have no tables that are suitable for me as a power chair user. There is air conditioning and wifi.
Transport & Parking
There is on street parking outside the building which is free for blue badge holders. There are two bays saved for disabled badge holders. The bus station is about 10 minutes walk away at a moderate pace. The pavement is smooth with plenty of flush lowered kerbs and there are crossings on busy main road to get from Intu to Vedi.
Access
It is level access with a heavy manual door. The counter isn't lowered but they do have a moveable card machine that accepts contactless. None of the tables are suitable for me to eat at with my powered wheelchair. They will bring food and drinks to you. The menu is not available in large print or braille and they do not have a hearing loop from what I can see. The straws are paper.
Toilets
There is an accessible loo combined with baby changing facilities. Toilet has contrasting coloured rails with left sided transfer, however the sink is next to the toilet so this may get in the way for some. The toilet has a paddle flush and the sink is a lever tap. The hand dryer is at a reasonable height. The mirror is too high from a seated position. I can spin around in my chair but there are bins on the floor. The emergency cord does not reach the floor. If you use large wheelchair it would be a tight squeeze to have a carer with you too. There is a changing place toilet located in the Intu centre near by, there is also one in the council house.
Staff
The staff are helpful. They will move chairs away from tables, help with door, read menu etc. if you need them too.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Would benefit from an electric entry door. The emergency cord needs lengthening too and have a lower mirror and coat hook. Covid: There was a bottle of hand sanitizer with a sign in sheet at door. Door was kept open. There was screen at till. Masks were not worn. The tables do not have screens and if each table had 4 people seated there you would be back to back to other people with barely a few inches between. Some tables have been removed. I did not notice anything regarding limiting number of customers entering.
