Overview
I reserved a wheelchair in advance of our visit but needn’t have done so as they were readily available by the main entrance. For many years I have struggled with visiting places which involve standing and slow walking as my pain gets unbearable. The wheelchair made me feel better, enabled and able to concentrate on the wonderful exhibitions. The staff, especially in the cafe, were very helpful and everything was accessible.
Transport & Parking
I used the London Underground which varies with accessibility. Sometimes trains have problems which means there are steps to negotiate which are a nightmare.
Access
Level exhibition areas, ramp access inside and a lift.
Toilets
Excellent facilities, lots of space.
Staff
Reception staff were unhelpful when I approached them saying I had reserved a wheelchair as I was walking with my cane and showing my invisible disability. Once in the wheelchair attitudes changed and the cafe staff were particularly helpful.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Accessible for all and quieter than more central museums.
