Overview

This review is specific to Electric Vehicle Charging within the Union Square Multi-Story car park, not to be confused with the nearby overspill parking at College Street. Union Square Shopping Centre has 10 type 2 7kw EV charging bays.

Transport & Parking

Located on parking level 1, these chargers can only be accessed via the Union Square car park. Handy if you're going for a little shopping, though maybe not the most cost-effective way to charge your car.

Access

As with many EV chargers, accessibility seems to be of little consideration here. The sockets are high on the machine, and there is a frame around the bottom of the machine. There is no card reader as payment is made through the Pod Point app. There are hatched markings at the bottom of the bay, but not on the sides. These spaces are slightly wider than a standard parking space but may make it difficult to transfer from the car seat to a wheelchair or powerchair.

Toilets

There aren't any toilets on this level, but the Union Square Shopping Centre has multiple accessible toilets, as do many of the coffee shops and restaurants in the centre. The toilet also features a modest Changing Places toilet, which I've reviewed on a separate entry for this location.
