Overview

Have you ever seen a Michelangelo ? This exhibition includes sketches by the famous artist Including Picasso; Rembrandt; Rubens; Hockney & Bridget Reilly. A free exhibition, showing the different mark making preliminary sketches of famous artists. Grap a coffee afterwards in the ' yellow Door' cafe and contemplate the subject of your next drawing studies- you might even start in the cafe.

Transport & Parking

I spent 20mins trying to find street parking, but if you have a blue badge there are 5 spaces inside the museum grounds at the entrance. If you haven't got a badge and walking is an issue, I advise you to get dropped off. Museum is just past Queens University so catch a pink city bus to here and it's a short walk.

Access

Lifts to all floors and to level 4 where exhibition is showing. However, I decided to walk down and found a chair lift operating between 4&3 was out of order and any wheelchair user would have to back track. There are quite a few different levels separated by steps but most are accessible by lift.

Toilets

Disabled loo is on ground floor just beside cafe. It could be quite a journey if you are on top floor & need to use facilities, so you might want to use them first before you start. There are so many interesting things to see here you wont want to rush away.

Staff

I didn't converse with any staff except in the friendly cafe. But noticed staff creating and directing people at the entrance.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The Museum has regular art based visiting exhibitions of the highest caliber which change frequently. If there isn't one on at the time of your visit there is an extensive museum collection of local and international artists. A bright welcoming space children and buggies are welcomed and encouraged. In the 'Line of thought' there was a dedicated kids drawing area where magnifying glasses were provided & huge picture enlargements showed the different drawing techniques of the artist. Several young teenagers were eagerly trying out techniques. There are tours on daily so check out when you arrive as these often give more insight into exhibitions particularly if reading the labels is an issue.
