Overview
The lower level is all on the flat, the toilet is of a good size. The space is good around the exhibit for a chair and the audio tour around the town is quite easy to menouvre. The staff are super helpful and are willing to take any research information from upstairs down to you if you want it. They seem to be quite focused on trying to be more accessible to all. Would 100% recommend Great for kids!
Transport & Parking
Street parking, is available right outside.
Access
There were plenty of seats within the museum to use for a rest, there were also a few benches along the way on the Town tour. There was an Induction loop sign inside. There is also large print and other options available for difference abilities. There isn’t a lift, as the building is a Thomas Telford Original, but upstairs is the children’s play area and the genealogy and history research areas. The staff are happy to bring things down to you to read and help research. There are no steps on the ground floor, just a few lips on the doors that are easy to get over.
Toilets
The toilet is on the ground floor and has a red pull cord. The sink will take a chair underneath and there are some toilet grab rails. There is space for a carer as well.
Staff
The staff were brilliant and were happy to shake things up to accommodate us. They were brilliant!
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I would recommend this museum to anyone in the area. They are working towards a child friendly part of the town tour which I can’t wait to see when I come back again. They are very friendly and are open to recommendations.
