Overview

I use a large powerchair and visited the Twist Museum, located on Oxford Street in London. It is a small museum all about illusions and has exhibits/interactive displays to trick your mind! I paid £29 for a flexible ticket along with the complimentary carer ticket they also provide. The entrance was flat and straight off of Oxford Street where a lift took you down to the basement to the museum. I will say though, the whole place was on the small side and going during the school holidays should be avoided. The desk where you bought tickets was at an appropriate height for wheelchair users and the staff i spoke to were all very friendly and helpful. Next to the lift was the lockers and toilet area. The lockers were in a very tight space and very busy so i had to keep away in my wheelchair and let my PA deal with our coats. The disabled toilet however, was fantastic! I am forever struggling to find disabled toilets that suit my side-transfering needs and this one was great (for me but perhaps not others). There was a toilet with a left hand side transfer, a sink with automatic soap dispensers, a hand dryer, baby changing table and large mirror. The exhibit itself was quite crowded with lots of children (school holidays). It was enjoyable experiencing the illusions that were accessible but there were a few not accessible due to tilted floors or being placed too high. We probably spent around 45 minutes there. I would recommend if you enjoy illusions and how the mind works, or maybe you just need a decent accessible toilet!

Large space for wheelchairs to turn in. Grab rails surrounding toilet and sink, Toilet had left side transfer from a wheelchair. Had some toilet tissues over the floor but smelt clean. Opposite side to the sink is a large mirror and a baby changing table.
