Overview

Tropical World is a really fun and interesting place to visit, I chose to go because it's level access because my friend is in a wheelchair. Make a day of it and go to Roundhay Park and do what we did and get some scrumptious food at the Roundhay Fox, also level access (you may need to book ahead there are popular!). There is also a cafe at Tropical World and I noticed a man in a power chair in there.

Transport & Parking

There are 2 (that I could see) massive disabled parking bays just outside that hold about 6 cars each. The buses are also very regular and the stops aren't far away.

Access

No life is needed because it is all level access, I've given it a 4 because there are a few (perhaps 3) bits that were steep enough to make me wonder if my friend would be able to get up, he only needed a push up one bit and put that down to having a new a lighter chair. If you're self-propelling and not feeling very strong, have someone behind you who can push you. There was also a few its that were narrow, we got through if people squeezed out of our way though. There was a few places to rest but not many, it takes roughly 20 minutes to walk through if you don't stop to read all the information. Carers also get in free.

Toilets

I was reliably informed that they were sufficient, there is also a disabled access toilet in the reception/giftshop area at the start and another in the walk through experience itself.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I would recommend for those who don't like children or noise, to find out when the quiet periods are and go then, it is for children although I've been many times with adults and still enjoy it. The plus side to this is that all the viewing windows etc. are low down enough for those in wheelchairs.
