Overview
Booked Travelodge at Watford Central, for proximity to Vicarage Rd (Watford FC) attending Elton John gig on 3 July 22 and because there is secure parking next to hotel. Double accessible room booked. What we got wasn’t a double accessible room - it was twin beds, neither of which had appropriate room for wheelchair transference as per part M of building regs. I don’t use a wheelchair on a regular basis, but have mobility problems. I struggled to get in and out of bed as the gap between wall and bed was 10 inches maximum. I need to get out of bed in a specific way and was unable to do so with such limited space. This didn’t comply with building regs on accessibility. Hotel assistant manager informed us there are no double accessible rooms at this location, but could push the beds together. There was no apology. Room was booked as double accessible, and confirmation email stated as such. We discovered from the manager on the Monday, that the beds zip together and a double mattress placed on top. Pushing the beds together and having 2 single mattresses and single duvets wasn’t what we booked and paid for. I also think this is a health and safety issue as I actually slid between the mattresses, and the beds had not been secured. Doors inside the hotel were heavy and difficult to open, especially whilst using my walking stick. Please don’t use this hotel.
