Overview

This was the first time we had travelled with a wheelchair, and we were both a bit anxious, but our stay here proved comfortable and enjoyable, with no real problems. We were impressed by the attention to safety and an evacuation plan, explained to us on arrival. Everywhere was clean and the room was surprisingly quiet, given the city centre location. My husband generally used crutches within the room and wetroom, and wheelchair elsewhere in the hotel, and the only problems we had were navigating the doors between reception and the lifts. Fortunately, there was usually somebody - staff or a fellow guest - ready and able to hold them for us. There was no problem with the wheelchair in the bedroom or the wetroom, and the shower seat and multiple handrails in the wetroom were ideal. The wetroom floor was a bit slippery when wet, but otherwise it was ideal. The dining area was no problem with the wheelchair, and the staff were great. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were friendly without being intrusive. We will definitely stay here again.

Transport & Parking

We don't have a car, so I can't comment on parking, but the location is great for public transport. We arrived on the bus from the airport, alighting outside Queen Street railway station. From there, it was just a short walk down Queen Street to the hotel. Central Station is a similar distance from the hotel in the other direction. There are also bus stops for other routes nearby.

Access

The entrance is by way of a long, wide ramp, so no problems there. The doors between reception and the lifts caused us slight problems, mainly because my husband's self-propelling wasn't then up to navigating the turns, and there wasn't room for me to push and open the doors at the same time. Elsewhere in the hotel we had no problems. The dining area was roomy enough to get around with the wheelchair, and we could easily manoeuver the chair in at a table. There was also plenty of room in the lift area on our floor.

Staff

The staff were, without exception, friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Anything we asked for (e.g. non-dairy milk at breakfast) was done immediately and cheerfully. The general atmosphere in the hotel was excellent.
