This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair, Powerchair

Overview

To stay right in the centre of things at a reasonable price and get wheelchair access is no mean feat, but travel lodge ticked these boxes. Its not luxury, but it is clean and functional. You will definitely need to book an accessible room (whether you need the accessible bathroom or not) though because you literally can't get a wheelchair in the regular rooms. The only irritation is that its really difficult to actually call the hotel (its a premium number with central receptionists) so when i was stuck outside the disabled access gate and no one answered the intercom i had to rely on the kindness of strangers to let me in! that said once i mentioned this to staff they were straight onto it and even gave me the night managers mobile so i felt confident coming back alone late at night.

Transport & Parking

Parking unknown I'm afraid, but you exit the hotel and find buses and taxis very easily. i came from Victoria Coach station in a cab with no problem. The front of the hotel has a ton of steps but the disabled access ramp is around the back by the delivery gate which is not a great welcome.

Access

Ramp around the back. Not all that clean. Gated access at the top if the ramp with intercom is v unwelcoming and no one answered the intercom when i arrived so i had to wait for a member of the public to pass by inside and they opened it for me. Perhaps the hotel should provide information at the gate for what to do if you can't get in! The rest of the hotel (bar cafe etc) is fine for wheelchair access. I booked an accessible room which was fine for a wheelchair user. Even the accessible rooms are not huge but functional. You can't get a wheelchair into the regular rooms, so you need to book an accessible room whether you need the accessible bathroom or not.

Toilets

excellent accessible bathroom/wet room in the room I had ('Super' room) with a shower stool, low basin, grab rails by toilet. Really nice shower, plenty of hot water.

Staff

Couldn't do enough to help, addressed the intercom access issue (see above) , apologised, upgraded my room, showed me to my room, made arrangements for emergency evacuation (!) if needed. Were v kind.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Definitely would return.
