Overview

When you look at the bridge from a distance you'd think there's no way a powerchair user is going to be able to visit and see the inner workings. How wrong I was! From rolling into the entrance, through to climbing the tower, crossing the bridge and visiting the engine rooms it was a great experience.

Transport & Parking

Being in the City of London there's loads of transport options with nearby Tube, DLR, and mainline stations, as well as buses and taxis.

Access

An expected and well earnt five stars for Tower Bridge! Arriving at the exhibition entrance we were spotted and the accessible entrance opened. The guy at the ticket desk explained how accessible it was and talked is through the route. Taking the lift we were whisked up into the North tower to watch the historical story unfold. From there it was short distance out on to the East Walkway for fantastic views across both the river and city. Then onward to a lift to go down into the South tower with another gallery area and an accessible loo. We then left the tower and walked to the engine room.

Toilets

The accessible loo in the South tower was great; in fact one of the nicest I've seen for space, cleanliness and usability.

Staff

From the guy at the ticket desk through to the guides we met as we went around, everyone was helpful and friendly. Special mention to the chap on the reception desk at the engine room for his explanation of the exhibits, and welcoming manner.
