Overview

We could not find much historical notes for you, other than the few words below. Tom of the Woods Inn, Finwood road, Rowington, Warwickshire, CV35 7DH. www.tomofthewoods.co.uk An old 18th century canal-side pub located in Rowington, LAPWORTH, standing on the Grand Union canal. It was first named as ye Olde New Inn, then The New Inn hotel, but then renamed Tom of the Wood after a local corn mill. At one time there was a substantial woodland area with a steam running through it, an ideal spot for a small mill, affectionately known then as Tom in the Woods. Very nice place (photo 1) good parking (photo 2) with a few bays right up by main entrance (photo 3) small but easy outdoor seating area, close to the Union canal pathway (photo 4) and a good idea of theirs is that you can hire for the day one of the three wooden chalets for your small party or drinks (photo 5). You can book either the Prosecco hut, G&T hut, or the wine hut. The main entrance is by garden area (photo 6) which leads you to the bar (photo 7) with a number of nice little places to sit indoors (photo 8) or by the fireplace on a cold evening (photo 9) The restaurant looked pleasant enough (photo 10) which receives high reviews, but there is a pleasant conservatory as well (photo 11) which looks cosy and warm overlooking the garden area (photo 12) Toilets are simple basic ladies and gents (photo 13) with small cubicles (photo 14) and you would have to leave your chair by the entrance and walk in. Just outside is the main little lane (photo 15) that leads past pleasant cottages to take you along to the canal bridge (photo 16) with views across towards the canal (photo 17) and a rather narrow overgrown tow path (photo 18) and a view over on the other side of bridge to a very nice private cottage and garden (photo 19) Then return those few feet back to the Inn. Just a reminder that you can keep up to date with all our reviews on the website we use for Euans Guide, with now over 330 reviews for you. Do take a look when you can, there are plenty of ideas for visits you could think about, especially on the second page which offers our reviews made for 2023.
