Overview

I stayed one night at Titanic Hotel Belfast and would love to go back. The hotel is designed so to look like the real Titanic ship - which was built where the hotel now stands! Some of these design features did mean that accessibility was a second thought e.g dark lighting, narrow corridors, but overall a brilliant experience for me.

Transport & Parking

We got a taxi to the main door of the hotel. Leaving the hotel there is a Glider stop near which goes in and out of the city centre (this is also wheelchair accessible and a fantastic way to travel). Parking situation unknown.

Access

From outside there is level access into reception. To access the lift you go round behind reception which can be quite tight if concierge leave suitcases lying about. To go from the lift to the corridors with rooms there was a fire door - not automatic. We booked an accessible room and were not disappointed. Loads of room to move around in. Bed could not fit a hoist however. There was also a fantastic view of the Titanic Museum.

Toilets

In the hotel room the bathroom had lots of space to move around in. The toilet had grab rails on either side and you transfer left. There was a red cord installed and working, however on arrival it was tucked behind a grab rail. Toilet roll on left, and the flush was a push pad style button on the back. Also in the bathroom was a roll in wet-room shower with a fold down bench and grab rails on either side. There is a fixed shower head directly above or a detachable shower head. There is also a red cord behind the shower which reached the floor. I saw a disabled toilet near the bar at reception but did not use it.

Staff

Dressed like they would have on the Titanic, staff were lovely and very happy to help with anything I needed.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The biggest improvement I could see would be the lighting in corridors. Of course they wanted the design to resemble the Titanic, so the corridors are very low lit, the only lights are those that show up room numbers and fire escapes.
