Overview
We were assured it's wheelchair accessible and it's simply not. There's no way for a wheelchair user to independently contact the restaurant upon arrival except via phone. They use a temporary ramp which is ridiculously steep, slippery, narrow and flimsy. My partner didn't want to change plans and was disappointed so went with it anyways. We were sat at couches with a very low table (knee height when sitting on the couch, shin height from the wheelchair). Too low to safely transfer to couches. The accessible toilet was hidden away, so you need to ask to be led to it, it had no turning space, wobbly pull down grab bar and no wall grab bars, emergency pull cords were zip-tied up, and was outside a busy kitchen which made it difficult to get back out.
Transport & Parking
We took the bus to Princes Street and then it was around 5-10 minutes to the venue.
Access
There's no way for a wheelchair user to contact reception from the outside (other than phoning) to get the temporary ramp put out. I went in first, and it then took a while to get people to pull out an incredibly steep (6 steps) and flimsy looking ramp. My partner didn't want to change plans, so we did it. My partner is an independent wheelchair user with really strong arms, but the process required two people to push her up the stairs (one slipped halfway) and three people to support her getting back down. Door staff are not able to facilitate access, so we had to wait for managers to come to do the ramp.
Toilets
Accessible toilet was behind the kitchen. My partner got stuck for a few minutes as there were staff members outside the door who didn't realise there was someone trying to get out. Additionally, although the bathroom had two red pull cords, one was ziptied up and the other was far too short, so both were inaccessible should my partner have needed them. No space to turn around, difficult to transfer. Pull down grab bar was wobbly and there were no wall grab bars.
Staff
They were helpful about the situation, though they didn't really seem to understand how impactful it can be to deal with things like this. The managers helping with access seemed to see supporting access as a bit of a novelty, which made my partner feel more like a spectacle than a guest. The wait staff were absolutely fantastic, cannot fault them.
