Overview
Local solicitors in the city centre of Dundee that has level access for wheelchair users.
Transport & Parking
I parked in a council car park across the road from Thorntons where Blue Badge holders can park free of charge. There is a car park attached to Thorntons however, when I tried to enter the receptionist told us through the buzzer that it was a private car park. Later I got told to state that I need access to the accessible parking so, I will know for future reference. There is plenty of council car parks and on street parking around and about Thorntons.
Access
At the front of Thorntons there are two entrances, both have two sets of doors to go through. With both entrances having an automatic door and a manual door that you have to open. The reception desk on the lower level is quite high, the receptionist did lean over the desk to talk to me and I did raise my wheelchair seat to speak to her. The reception/waiting area is very spacious. We went upstairs and used the lift. The buttons did not stay lit up so we were unsure if the lift was going to move when the doors shut. Upstairs the reception desk was at a better height for wheelchair users. The doors to enter a meeting room are quite wide for wheelchair users to get through, I felt like the tables were a little low though for wheelchair users to learn for signing documents.
Toilets
I was only at Thorntons for less than 30 minutes so I didn’t need to visit the accessible toilet, therefore I cannot comment on what it’s like or even if they have one. There is a Changing Places toilet in the V&A Dundee which you have to cross a couple of roads with traffic lights to get to and is roughly a 5-minute walk away.
Staff
All staff I interacted with during my visit were very friendly and helpful.
