Overview

Let's face it, MK hasn't had the best of press, with it's concrete cows and 1960s architecture. For us wheelchair users however, it is a masterpiece. Big enough to have a good selection of shops but small enough so that your arms don't drop off after a heavy day's shopping. Smooth floors, accessible loos; what's not to like?

Transport & Parking

A fair amount of lovely, flat accessible parking which is free if you have your blue badge. I have't tried the multi-storey car park but find outside more convenient.

Access

Step free, smooth floors. Shops obviously differ, but a special mention is given to John Lewis. Lovely, wide aisles and two (yes, two) accessible toilets, which don't infanticise you by putting you in with the baby changing facilities.

Toilets

Lots of accessible loos in the centre. Again, John Lewis wins hands down because there are loos on the top and lower floors. It is also the only place that I have come across that has a dispensing machine for tights, tampons etc in an accessible toilet. Thank you JL!

Staff

Perfect. Can I mention John Lewis again? I had a cup of tea in the cafe and when I was paying a member of staff (and a member of the management team at that) said, "I'll get that tray for you". It was done in a perfectly lovely way and he just carried the tray over and left. Great service.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I live about an hour from MK but it beats all the other shopping centres hands down. Much better than Watford, Brent Cross, Oxford.... I only went to buy a couple of things and ended up staying all day.
