Overview
An accessible theatre with good modern facilties
Transport & Parking
The venue is located 100 metres from the main town bus station, with traffic free and level access from the bus station through to the front door. The Eastgate car park, with fully accessible disabled parking bays located just 50 metres from the theatre. On-street free disabled parking 80 metres, 130 metres and 175 metres from the venue. Drop-down kerbs at all points to cross the road.
Access
The door opened automatically, and access to the seating area was along a spacious foyer and wide doors hinged open. The box office and toilets are in the same area, all within a short distance of each other. All seats in Row D can be booked by wheelchair users, and the physical seats can be removed to accommodate a wheelchair user remaining in their wheelchair. Access is level from the foyer with no need to use ramps or lifts. The cafe was fully accessible, every seat could be moved about to accommodate wheelchairs, so it was possible to pick and choose exactly where I wanted to sit to enjoy my pre-show drink.
Toilets
A good sized toilet located right next to the box office, enough room to get wheelchair in, carer in, with handlebars to help.
Staff
All staff were helpful and talked to me as a person.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Venue also had a hearing system compatible with T-Loop.
