Overview
The cafe is located almost opposite the entrance to Glastonbury Abbey. It's open during the daytime serving meals, snacks and drinks. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There is an accessible toilet and reasonable access.
Transport & Parking
The cafe is directly behind the bus stop towards Bristol, and the one in the opposite direction is just across the road. Glastonbury does not have a train station. I took the 376 bus from Bristol which took about 1.5 hours. The bus is accessible with a ramp at the front of the bus and a wheelchair user space.
Access
The cafe is on a flat shopping street. There are free standing tables and chairs directly outside the cafe when it is open. The front door has step free access, then an immediate turn left through another door into the cafe. When I visited both manual doors were kept open. There is step free access to the counter, where you order your food, and there are some free standing tables and chairs. Towards the back there is a single step, see photo, with no hand rail. This leads to further seating and to the accessible toilet.
Toilets
There is one customer toilet and this is accessible. It's at the back of the building, and accessible by a single step. Then there is a narrow corridor which has tall freezers/ fridges down one side. I was with my crutch and found it easy to access, however I am not too sure if it is spacious enough for a wheelchair user, see photo. The toilet itself was spacious, clean and uncluttered. There were plenty of grab rails. There was no emergency cord.
Staff
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I placed my order and the person serving me immediately asked another member of staff to carry my tray for me. As a solo traveller I really appreciate this, as it's nice to have your access needs anticipated instead of always having to ask for them.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Food was delicious. Although this time I only had a pastry, I have eaten there before, but outside, and the homemade food has always been good, and with large portions. The cafe is in a central stop if you are wanting to sit outside and people watch, and the food and service excellent. Always handy to know which venues have accessible toilets in Glastonbury. Very happy to go back again.
