Overview
Wheelchair friendly , easily accessible and plenty of space to view exhibits. Excellent cafe ( the white chocolate and raspberry flapjacks were delicious!) and good disabled toilet facilities. Museum free but with admission charge for non- permanent exhibitions . However concessions for disability and free for accompanying carer. Highly recommended. Would give 5 stars but no immediate parking and I did use my riser for some of the exhibits , which is a facility not always available to other wheelchair users
Transport & Parking
No parking attached to museum , but as very central in the town did not have far to go to find disabled parking either on street or in local car parks. Very close to the Cheltenham bus station.
Access
Level access ,automatic doors and wide foyer with plenty of space. Cafe entrance easy too , though small space meant a little challenge to get to the counter to place order. Food brought to table so no issues with even having to ask for help.
Toilets
easy access , plenty of room , good grab rails , alarm cord accessible , and easy to use facilities. Disabled loos on each floor which is excellent. might benefit from adding the wheelchair sign to the male and female figures on the clear signage as then would negate having to ask which floor the disabled facilities were on.Would have given it 5 stars if it has been clearer!
Staff
very friendly and helpful.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
spent a few happy hours there on disabled access day and with changing exhibitions will plan to go again. Also want to have another delicious flapjack!
