Overview
We stayed 3 nights in the accessible room, Blackberry. All of their 6 rooms are ground floor at the rear of the pub. A king size bed and relatively spacious room. Very spacious and modern bathroom. Toilet has one drop down bar. We always take a toilet frame to make life easier. John and Di made us very welcome. Good pub food with a twist. Continental breakfast or bacon roll suited us fine. Very popular for Sunday roasts but we didn’t try it.
Transport & Parking
Large car park at side of pub. Disabled parking space right next to the accessible room.
Access
The room was very accessible. Easy access from the room - across the car park down a gentle slope and round to the front of the pub. John has a metal ramp he puts down to get up the two steps into the pub. Narrow but doable in a wheelchair - needs help up and down the ramp but works. Inside there is a narrow corridor with narrow doors to the bar areas. Doable with care.
Toilets
There is a disabled loo in the courtyard next to the rooms. Need to go out of the front door, turn right for the car park then a ramp down to the disabled loo. Didn’t try it as we just used our bathroom.
Staff
Very friendly, helpful and eager to please. Recommend the Sunday quiz night!
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I talked to John about adding some grab rails in our bathroom. He said no one had ever made any suggestions for this and he said he would definitely arrange that. We would visit again as it’s so convenient visiting our family in Wetherby. There’s no obvious comparable accommodation in Wetherby or Tadcaster.
