Overview
The ‘Glas y Dorlan’ Canal boat is moored on the Llangollen canal, at Trevor Basin in North Wales. You can choose a full day or half day trip over aqueducts and through tunnels. Beautiful scenery, nature and some pubs along the way. The trust has this boat that can be used by disabled people. Hydraulic lift to assist wheelchair users on board. Toilet suitable for wheelchair users with grab rail. Large windows to allow clear views. A very inclusive boat and experience suitable for able bodied and disabled people. The boat is able to carry 12 people (maximum of 4 wheelchair users). The trust asks for a minimum donation to cover running costs. Slippers are volunteers.
Transport & Parking
There is a car park right next to the canal with accessible pathways. Disabled spaces are available but limited in number.
Access
No problem with access. Lift and ramp provided to easily get in the canal boat.
Toilets
Toilet is accessible with a grab rail. A little small but it’s a canal boat so they have done the best job possible to increase space with a sliding door.
Staff
Terry and Derek were our skippers. Friendly, professional and welcoming. Couldn’t ask for more. Very flexible approach in terms of us doing a trip that suited us in duration and route.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Great experience for all. There was a group of 10 of us. 6 children aged between 2 years old and 9 years old (2 of which are wheelchair users) and 4 adults. Inclusive day out that everyone really enjoyed. You can stop off for lunch at a pub or stop off for a walk. You can take a picnic onboard if you wish. Kitchen facilities onboard too.
