Disabled Access Day 2019 at The Umbrella Cafe
The Umbrella Cafe is taking part in Disabled Access Day 2019!
- Together with The Umbrella Centre and Repair Cafe Whitstable we will be hosting a Repair Cafe all morning 10:00 - 12:00. The Repair Cafe is a great opportunity to get anything you need fixed for free (donations welcomed). Come along with your items to mend , wooden , electrical , costume jewellery, clothing and bags. Our ethos is renew mend and recycle. If you have a skill to share do pop in and meet the team and see how you can get involved.
- There will be a performance at 14:00 in one of the rooms inside The Umbrella Centre called Hive Co-Working: Performance by SENsational choir. SENsational Choir is an exciting, new project by a local SEN music teacher and professional performer, which gives young people with special educational needs & their families the opportunity to take part in a choir.
- We will have a stall in the garden to promote Festability, which is in its second year and it taking place on May 11th in Quex Park, Kent. Festability is an inclusive and accessible music festival. They offer mobiloo, BSL interpreters, brailled schedules, quiet areas and ear defenders.
- The Umbrella Cafe CIC will be open all day 09:30 - 17:00. We and the whole Centre are fully accessible, including the garden. We have a lowered front counter so people can easily order from a wheelchair, lots of room inside the cafe for a wheelchair or mobility scooter to access. A disabled toilet in the building and there is a changing places toilet in the Harbour which is approx 10 minutes walk away.
