Overview
Visited the Tutankhamun Exhibition with husband in his mobility scooter, daughter & 2 granddaughters
Transport & Parking
No parking at exhibition. We parked in Top of the Town Car Park, which is a council one, so had to pay for parking. Not too far to walk.
Access
Not a great place for a mobility scooter. There is a step at the entrance. Staff brought out a ramp but it was quite short and very steep. You have to follow the one route through the exhibition. It is really narrow and tight in several places, culminating in my husband getting totally stuck trying to come out round two very sharp turns. He had to get out of his scooter & stand against the wall while I dragged it round! There is a small part of the exhibition upstairs, which is not accessible. They should have charged him half price as he couldn't access this part but the lady on the desk forgot but the gave a refund at the end.
Toilets
We didn't use them - not sure if they had one as we didn't see it.
Staff
Not very clued up! I think they should have mentioned before we bought tickets how difficult it would be to get round in a scooter.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Great exhibition - we enjoyed it a lot but not really suitable for mobility scooters. Perhaps they should have a wheelchair available and ask people to transfer into it to go round.
