Great ramp to enter but old building and lack of thought means it's not great for a wheelchair

Overview
Went for a function. Accessible toilet was miles away and tiny plus I couldn't access the outside area of the suite because of steps & no ramp.
Transport & Parking
We went by bus. The works on North Bridge mean the nearest bus stop is at the far end of South Bridge and isn't that near. I think blue badge parking outside the hotel would be possible but it's a busy part of town.
Access
They're is a permanent ramp at the entry but awkward doors at the top which meant I needed assistance to get in.
Toilets
There is only one accessible toilet in the whole of the hotel (presumably there are also accessible rooms). It is on the ground floor. The function suites are on a different floor. The lift is small. Just room for a power chair & a companion. I had to back out and the doors tried to close on me. Next is old double doors. Staff had to open the second one because one alone was too narrow. The toilet itself is through an old doorway. The door has been taken off but it is still very narrow. I could only just get through. After that you are faced with a pull door to get in to the toilet. It's manual and there is no space behind the door, so whoever is holding the door open has to stand on the other side to allow room to enter while their arm is stretched across you to hold the door. Once inside, the layout is such that you can't get a wheelchair near the toilet. A small scooter would just get in. The sink is so big it's hard to reach the soap on the wall and the hand towels are on a window sill, out of my reach. Overall, very clean & shiny but not at all user friendly.
Staff
Staff were perfectly friendly and helpful when asked but did not offer help until asked.
