Overview
Whilst the view of the Cerne Abbas giant was rather disappointing due to him needing to be re-chalked access to viewing points was good. Cerne Abbas village is ancient, with some properties dating from the 15th / 16th centuries But not much to view or hold attention. However, there was a pleasant walk along the river side on hard earth tracks (suspect this could get very muddy in wet weather) As the buildings were old, wheelchair access was not good. Entry St Mary's church impossible - steps. Entry to The Royal Oak pub - impossible due to narrow door ways and steps. We managed to get to dinner by dismantling the wheelchair and lifting my husband inside, but lots of help offered. Worth the effort - excellent meal in lovely pub with good staff Enjoyed! Well worth a visit - but take family / friends to help.
