Overview

When I was at eat (Leuchie respite centre)I went to The Puffin Restaurant in North Berwick, my carer went inside and emerged with two staff who assisted us to our table and were on hand in case we needed help. they were brilliant during my visit and were brilliant at engaging with me and not asking my carer what I would like. the menu offered a great choice as did the specials sheet. the food arrived sharpish and was great value for money and tasted great. I left room for a Pub and was very impressed with how beautifully clean the restaurant was considering how busy they were the staff delivered everyone with a friendly efficient and speedy service. my carer checked out both the Ladies and found them to be clean, fresh and tidy, she also said the disabled toilet was spacious enough even for my Electric chair if required. a lovely atmosphere meant that we had a great day out, Thanks to all at the Puffin. Also thank for supporting Leuchie by taking a collection tin for us.

Transport & Parking

Being on the High street parking is a bit hit or miss, however 50 yards around the corner there is a disabled parking space, with a few other Disabled parking spaces within walking distance.

Access

The Puffin has a ramp that they put in place for Disabled access and the staff were fantastic as they were always on hand to assist us should we need it. the restaurant itself was spacious and we were offered our choice of tables which were only feet inside the door, there was also a spacious feeling when at the table (between tables) and when moving around within the restaurant. There were no large print menus but I managed to read the m with my glasses on, as I say staff are always at hand and I am sure if asked they could assist by reading the menus out to customers.

Toilets

I did not visit the toilet myself however the carer that was with me always checks out how easy to find, how accessible and how clean the disabled toilets are and I was given a 5 star report.

Staff

The staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful from the second that we arrived at the front door until the minute we left. they offered us a choice of tables and re-arranged chairs to ensure I had easy access to the table, our menus were out to us almost immediately as were our drinks when we ordered and our food as well.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The food was fantastic and there was the option to have a starter size serving for my main course which was great as I am not a huge eater these days. although I did manage an ice-cream. I have recommended the Restaurant to everyone at Leuchie and will be visiting as often as I can when on respite as I stay in Fife or would be visiting more regularly. Although I do not drink at all these days there appeared to be a good and reasonable choice of wines.
